The Coolest Place in My College

Hi there! Good day? Now, I just want to share about a place that everybody in Sanata Dharma University maybe fall in love with it, it's the library. The coolest building in here.


The library of Sanata Dharma University is located on the west district of the campus. In front of it there is the Administration Office building and behind it there are the Realino and the Canteen of Sanata Dharma. This huge building has four floors. It is painted white mostly and the roof is red-painted. The library's basement is the place where you can find books that you want to read in the library or take it home and also there is a section where you can read and borrow some old books.

On the next floor, the first floor, it is the place where the main door located. In this place, there are also some lockers for students, the circulation section, and the main office. If you want to enter the library you must have student's ID card. You have to check your barcodes on the automatic turnstile. Without it, you will get a little problem. Anyway, you can bring your own books and also your laptop here. But you have to register it to the librarian.

On top of this floor, the second floor, there are the workstation, the photocopy, and the reader's space. The workstation provides many computers for the students, they can use it for web surfing, do the task, and the other needs of the students. The photocopy section is the place where you can copy books, magazines, newspaper, article, and so on, but you have to pay it, it is cheap anyway. And also you can print out your work in this section.

The next level floor is the third floor, here are the discussion room located and also the magazines section. The other facilities of the library are hot spot area with fully air-conditioned building. It is the right place for hang out!

My Partner in Crime

Hello everyone! I think it's time for me to describe some other person that have a lot of influence in my life. Maybe, I can call them my “Partner in Crime”. They are Ajib, Kebo, and Fera.

Ajib is short black-haired, lean body, tanned skin. He wears eyeglasses. Now, he is studying at Medical Programs of UGM. He told me that the truth is he wants to study architecture. We have being a friend since we were on the elementary school. He is such a lunatic person. We like to hang out so much. When, we hang out he likes to do some silly action and mimicking some actor or actress expression. He is so good on it. I think he will be a great actor if he doesn’t like to be a doctor. He is my partner in crime because we have spent our time for silly activities a lot.

Outrageous Trip with My Best Friends

I think I should share my experience with you. This is about my trip to Jakarta with my best friends. On the eleventh grade school's holidays, we went to Jakarta by train, it was my first trip to Jakarta with them. I felt excited and ecstatic about it. In the train we shared everything, like our school problems and many more. I can tell you a funny moment in the train, it was about when my best friend ate cheeseball snack, it looks very yummy, then my best friend gave me the snack because maybe she know that it looks like I was dying for it and maybe my face showed her my natural appetite expression. We were eating it voraciously, when my best friend realized the snack was expired, for a moment, we couldn't do anything, we looked like Paris Hilton when she lost her Chihuahua. We were panic. You know, it sounds so not cool, if we tell someone about the reason why we canceled our trip because of a silly illness. We were vomiting it out when the steward came out, I did it very nasty, the steward was coming when for a coincidence I vomited on his shoe. I apologized right after I had done that. However, he just gave me a soap opera antagonist character looks. It was definitely hilarious and ridiculous moment, we just tittered. We felt very embarrassed. After that we just chill out and enjoy our entire eight hours journey to Jakarta.

We got to Jakarta in the evening. We ended our journey by train in Jatinegara train station. My best friend's aunt picked us up. We planned to stay in her house for our one week holiday there. Wait a second, I almost forget to tell you my best friends name, they are Kebo and Fera. After, she picked us up, we went to her house in Bekasi, it was located in Kemang Pratama. We got there at night and Kebo's aunt told us to get ready as fast as we could because she wanted to bring us to Citos for having dinner. When we enter the house all I could say just, amazing. I had never plan or thought for staying in such a big house for my school's holiday. It looked like a massive castle, sorry I'm just being hyperbolic. But for real it was big. For your information, me and Fera tried to be chill. However, when we had gotten inside and saw that the house had a swimming pool, Kebo knew from our face and eyes that we were excited and couldn't wait to get into the pool like there wasn't any other time to do that. Auntie had two children, one son and one daughter. At first, I thought that they were a cocky kid but they were so nice for having us in their house. Obin, the youngest one, asked me to stay in his bedroom. His bedroom was like a car collection museum, wherever my eyes looked, I saw Hotwheels™ car. After that we were getting ready for having dinner at Citos. We got to Citos at nine o'clock, Auntie wanted to have our dinner at a Pizza House. She let us pick our own pizza with our favorite topping, Obin and Amanda, compelling us to choose and eat a lot of pizzas. So, we did that because in our own dictionary if we are being hypocrite we will get nothing. We came home fully recharged.

In the first morning on our first day holidays, Kebo's brother and cousin joined us. They arrived in the early morning. In the first day, we didn't go anywhere because Auntie had a meeting with her client, she had a boutique and a bedroom interior shop in Senayan City. So, we just stayed in the house. However, it wasn't too boring because we played Nintendo Wii™ all day and in the afternoon we swam. On the second day of our holidays, Auntie brought us to Grand Indonesia, we went there in the morning, we all spent our second day in Grand Indonesia. Kebo's cousin, Okky was going nuts by shopping. We just accompanied her everywhere she moved. For the service that we had given to Okky, she treated us gelato, an Italian ice cream. It was very yummy. Then we went to the cinema and watched Get Smart. Before the film began we explored Grand Indonesia. There were five spots about the world view, there were Indonesia spot, Indian spot, Little China, European spot, and American area. The most exciting spot to go was the European spot, because there was a laser show. And we captured a lot of pictures there, because everyone knows that we all were popular gorgeus models in the entire planet. Sorry, I'm trying to make it funny. The best moment from went around these spots was when we got lost, because we couldn't find a way to go back to the cinema, we were just like went around and round. So, Kebo had her brilliant idea in her head, she opened the emergency door, she thought we could find a way back, but the fire alarm in a sudden rang, and we were just like a stonehenge, freezing. When the security came up, we ran like there was a Godzilla chased after us. What a fortunate, we found the cinema. All of us absolutely couldn't forget that moment and we just giggled while we were watching the film. After all day long in the Grand Indonesia, we were so tired and all of us slept like a honey bear at night. On the third day, we planned to go to Tebet. In Tebet we went shopping. Because everybody knows that Tebet was one of distros center in Jakarta. We got there in the afternoon. There was a bunch of distros or distribution stores in Tebet. We just walked from one to another for buying things such as clothes, shoes, hat, and many more For your information, when we got there, there was a summer big sale in all of the distros. It made us so ecstatic and of course there is a silly moment happened. It happened when Okky was bringing a dozens of shopping bags, she met about five girls and they were gossiping Okky right in front of us. And for a sudden, we gossiped them too. We gossiped with Javanese language and they just stared us with blank expression. Actually, we shouted not gossiped because we were talking loudly. After all the shopping experience in Tebet, we had our lunch in De Jons, burger house, before Auntie's driver picked us up. Our legs definitely ached for the rest of the day.

In day four we planned to go to Bandung. Auntie wanted to join us too. I thought she was the one that most interested to go to Bandung. We went there with two cars. It just took one hour and a half to get to Bandung. In Bandung we went to all the popular spots that we knew in there. We bought batagor Kingsley and banana cake in Kartika Sari, we went shopping in the factory outlets and distros, we had lunch in the Sundanese food restaurant, Bumbu Desa, and we went back to Bekasi in the evening. It was such an amazing trip to go there with my best friends because we had a lot of fun there. On the fifth day, we went to Pondok Indah Mall in South Jakarta, we wanted to meet our friends there. We did a hilarious moment again, we lost and separated with Auntie. And Auntie didn't know the mall well. There were two bridges, the north bridge and south bridge, when Auntie phoned us that she was in the north bridge, we went to the south one and when we got to the north bridge we couldn't find her. So we phoned her, and there was a phone rang in front of us, we had just realized that Auntie was standing in front of us with her new hair style. After we met her we moved to the food court for meeting our friends, on our way to food court we met Aura Kasih on the escalator, I can tell you that she is very hot and fabulous, it was better to see her in real life than on the TV. We spent our fifth day of our holidays, it was Saturday, in the Pondok Indah Mall.

Day six came, we didn't have plan at all. So we just waited for Auntie to bring us everywhere she wanted. It did. She brought us to Mangga Dua. She knew we wanted to buy a lot of things with cheap price. When we got there, we challenged one another to buy a certain t-shirt with most cheap price that we could get. We did it in pair. My partner was Fera, we bargained the t-shirt with the seller for about a half hour. Finally, the seller gave up from us, we got two t-shirts with only one hundred rupiahs, for your information the seller gave us high price at first, about one hundred and eighty rupiahs each. Maybe the fortune god was accompanied us that day, so we knew that the seller was also a Javanese person. When we gathered for lunch, we told one another the price and absolutely we won the challenge. The last day came. We didn't go anywhere, we only packed up. Before we got to Gambir train station, Auntie brought us into Plaza Senayan and she bought us t-shirt for each one. She was very kind and her children were very cute and friendly. All of us were only could say thank you because she had taken care of us in there. It was the most outrageous holidays in my life and I can't forget it. Thank you for Auntie and my best friends. I felt very happy to have you all in my life. From all of my experiences, I can tell you that the most amazing ship in the world is friendship so keep it steady in the water.

Fun Activities in English Welcoming Days 2009

Last Saturday, all the newcomers of English Language Study Program of Sanata Dharma University were joined together in English Welcoming Days or we all know as EWD. It’s an annual event, so it must be fun. As a newbie, I had to join this event for knowing each other closer. The EWD was held in Wonogondang, Cangkringan. It was located on the hill of Merapi Mountain. So, it was already known that it will be freezing cold at night. Before we got there, we had to attend the English Language Program’s expo which also held in our campus. In this expo, we were introduced with all the extracurricular that our study program has, such as the Debating Club, the Photography Club, the Choir, the Drama Club, the Movie Club, and many more. We were also introduced with almost all the lecturer of this study program. After that, we also had a time to practice our performance for the talent show. My group was Group Fourteen leaded by Rendy, our senior. We joined Group Seven for the Talent Show’s performance, they’re leaded by Monique and she is also our senior. After we had practiced, we were going to Wonogondang by bus, it was such an experiences.

We got to Wonogondang in the afternoon. Next, we had a time for unpacking and taking a bath. Then, I wanted to take a bath as soon as I finished unpacking. When I got to the bathroom, I was surprised by the water, it was very cold. I gave my self a spirit for taking a bath, because I wasn’t sure that my body could handle the cold water. I was screaming at first, but it wasn’t that cold when I continually showered my body. Then, I felt very energetic and fresh. Next, all of us were gathered in front of the stage. We sang and danced for the EWD’s jingle. After that, we had to show our ‘yel-yel’ and luckily my group was the first group to show off. We did a little bit dance for our group’s ‘yel-yel’. Then, the sun was set. Later on, we had our dinner. After that, the Committee was setting up the camp fire, because it was getting colder by night and we had to show off our performance, it was the time for talent show. And luckily it was my group again that being called for the first time, what a luckiest day in my life. We showed off our fragment, it was about a reality show. By night, EWD was getting colder and colder while we were showing off our performance. The Talent Show was over and we had to go to our resting-tent before we did tracking. On the tent we got only a few minutes to rest then the committee told us to prepare for the tracking. We were the third group to go. Unfortunately, my group was incomplete, one of us was sick and we joined with Group Seven for tracking. We finally took our first step. It was freezing cold. We walked in silence. However, our journey was accompanied by the stars. It was an amazing feeling that me and all of my friends felt. That’s why many of our senior said EWD was a great opportunity to know each other.

On the tracking we got to find six posts, on each post we had to do something that the post-guards asked. On the first post, we had to play a game which called Magic Ball. After we had finished it, we kept on moving to find the next post. On the second post, we played Bamboo Gila. And on the third post, we had had to play Magic Fire before we moved to the next post. On the fourth post we had to play Ember Bocor. We played on a freezing night but the fun of all that games covered it. The fifth post was the serious one, the committee challenged us to reveal the truth and they blamed us that we had done something bad before we did the tracking. The situation was cold and silence, none of us had enough guts to say a single word. However, the committee released us to move on to the last post. On our way to the last post, unfortunately our friend, Ega, was sick. She was unconscious in a sudden. At first, we’re panic but our leaders already knew what they had to do. Ega was saved by the committee. Then, in this last post, all of our eyes were covered by our own handkerchief and we had to hold on to our friend’s shoulder. Next, we walked like a train, it was thrilling because we didn’t know what the committee had prepared for us. After that, the committee told us to sit down and open our right shoes. Then we felt our right foot was washed by the committee. It was like a surprise. And when we opened our eyes they told us that we were officially English Language Study Program students in Sanata Dharma University. Then, they told us to sleep and be ready for tomorrow activities.

The sun had risen. I was opening my eyes when my tent mates came back from their tracking. I was thinking about how tired they were because they didn’t have time to take a rest. Then I prepared my self to take a bath. The water was definitely cold. But I was getting used to it. After all of the participants had taken their bath, all of us were having morning snack and hot tea. Next, we gathered in front of the stage and we had to warming up. We did the jingle. Then, the committee told the outbound groups to all of the participants. Our group, group Fourteen, matched up with group Two. We had to compete in all outbound activities. First game was The Leaky Pipe, this game was making all of us wet, but it was so fun. Then we move to the next game, we had to compete in all seven from eight outbound games. The last game was The Pillow Fight. Our group was represented by Enan and he absolutely won it. After all the outbound activities which made us knew each others closer as a friend, we cleaned ourselves and packed up. I felt English Welcoming Days 2009 giving a great opportunity to know what PBI students must had, we had to have friends for accompanying our journey in the study program. EWD was absolutely amazing event to start our new life in campus, for exactly in PBI itself.
